in the modern astrology and spiritual communities there’s a lot of talk about the concept of abundance. hopefully, your chosen space for educating and self-reflection is centered around collective empowerment, and not just individual. a lot of the time it feels like the abundance chatter is centered around the individual. it usually feels tied to capitalism: if i can do more, i can get more.
but what if abundance wasn’t about each person’s individual successes. what if it was about there being more access to freedom, safety, rest, and food for everyone?
you might often also hear another (related) word when engaging with this kind of work: scarcity. it usually shows up in the form of a learned mindset where an individual has been led to believe they don’t deserve or can never attain the abundance that others have. it feeds off of comparison culture, tricking us into thinking that if others have already succeeded in doing something we enjoy, that we can’t, too.
even more dangerous? when we think we’re the only ones who are deserving.
the scarcity mindset is rooted in the idea that there isn’t enough for everyone, so its antonym, abundance, must be about everyone, too.
abundance can be defined as when the basic needs of everyone are met / and / also exceeded. it’s about cultivating more for everyone.

if success can be defined as a person or a company reaching their individual goals, then abundance can defined as everyone having the opportunity, access, education, food, rest, and safety to reach their goals.
if we’re all trying to chase the dream of *getting rich* while others are being oppressed, starved, deported, or experiencing erasure, is our richness really abundance?
we’re not saying to be ungrateful for what you have.
we’re not saying to not have dreams or try to attain them. instead we’re asking: on our way there, how can we open doors that allow others to continue to attain their dreams, too?
